Course Overview

Skills and Knowledge Acquired:
Completing this course will equip learners with the skills and knowledge to identify and use themed ASL words, apply ASL vocabulary into forming sentences, test their knowledge using the quiz at the end of each section, identify, express, and respond with short answers to yes/no and wh questions, ask for and provide basic personal information, give and follow simple directions or requests, demonstrate comprehension of basic questions on a variety of familiar topics, and engage in one-to-one conversation comparing and contrasting ASL with English. The course will also cover ten themed based lessons, including Introduction, Family, Describing People, Food, Home, Location and Directions, Activities, School, Meetings and Scheduling, and Hobbies and Interests.
